Here is a Muslim American with an organization that makes anti-terrorism sense, as reported in the Arizona Republic.
This gentleman fights an uphill battle, though, with the violent Koranic and Hadithic scriptures and the fact that so many in the Muslim world reject any interpretation that the violent scriptures applied only in Muhammed's time. Indeed, Islam has been consistently applying those hate-filled scriptures against non-Muslims for 1500 years. So, I wish Mr. Jasser Godspeed in his campaign, but I retain a healthy skepticism on his likelihood of success.

Lone Hate Crime, Isn't it Terrorism?
When does a hate crime become a terrorist act? Do acts of terrorism require a conspiracy?
What about the Seattle shootings in the Jewish Center by Naveed Haq, an American Muslim upset about the Middle East? See Seattlepi and CNN coverage.
The FBI stated that it appeared to be a lone act, simply a hate crime. Conservative pundits read the FBI's statement to be a denial that it was an act or terrorism.
I seems to me that a lone act may be an act of terrorism if it is in furtherance of a concerted effort. It seems to me that this lone act, even if not specifically coordinated with al Qaeda is still about terrorism. Maybe it is all how one defines terrorism. There is still one innocent person dead and other innocents wounded in the name of Islam, however you define it.

Dumping Crazy Cynthia?
Crazy Cynthia McKinney filed to win the Democratic nomination for reelection to her Congressional seat in Georgia. She led all candidates but failed to receive more than 50% of the vote, required under Georgia law. She received 47% of the vote against her nearest challenger who received 44.5% of the vote. As the incoumbent, I think it is fair to say that more than 53% of the voting Democrats voted against her.
She will face a runoff election on August 8, 2006.
We want to wish the voters in here district the best in choosing the better candidate.

Fiscally Responsible Republicans? Where?
Well said, Cal Thomas:
House Republicans are being told by their leaders to run campaigns this fall on a platform of fiscal discipline that includes cutting spending. For the entire article, click here.

To what should we compare this laugher? How about to a member of Alcoholics Anonymous who gets drunk between meetings and then gets up to testify that he has not had a drink in the last 10 minutes? Or, Madonna endorsing modesty.
Today's Lesson: Hand Grenades

"Militant killed by own hand grenade," from AFP, with thanks to Kisan:

Holy War? Or War Against Crazies?
I am struggling with something. I really need help from commentary to clarify something.
So far the United States has not characterized the war against terrorists as a war against Islam. I understand the reasoning, I think. It is more rational that mere political correctness. If we declared the war to be against Islam, we would authorize the so-called moderate Muslims to take up arms against us. There are plenty of "moderate Muslims" who refuse to join in terrorism (although it seems to me they don't do nearly enough to report suspects and otherwise prevent terrorism -- at least that is made public). Declaring a war on Islam would likely convert moderates into combatants.
However, the nature of today's terrorism primarily arises from Islam. It is the Koran from which today's terrorists derive their inspiration and justification. Fundamentalists may arise from any mosque, no matter how moderate the mosque be in general. As long as Islam flourishes, believers will read the Koran and the Hadith (Sayings of Muhammad). Some will take the calls to "slay them (unbelievers) wherever you find them" literally.
So, what should we (the non-Muslim world) do? Should we acknowledge that Islam is the problem and fight Islam? Should be continue to try to isolate the violent from the non-violent, with precious little help from the latter? Is there a rational strategy and is the United States pursuing it?
I am looking for answers.

Hate: Islamist and Moonbat
The deadly terrorist attacks in Bombay killed fewer than 200 people. Although the numbers pale in comparison to our 9/11, it shows that Islamist hate knows few bounds. If anything, Islamists may hate Hindus even more than they hate Jews and Christians, because at least Jews and Christians are "people of the book."
Islamists may hate Hindus even more than Moonbats hate George Bush (which they seem to do with a rabid, visceral hate that I truly do not understand).

Mob Violence--Guess Who?
Out of Nigeria comes a news story that is unsuitably vague, but it appears that Islam adherents again engage in deadly unhinged behavior.
I will be looking for more of this story. Some versions have the victim as 14 years old, lynched rather than stoned, and preaching Christianity in the streets rather than leaving flyers in mosques.
I wonder if the story about leaving flyers in mosques purporting to say unkind things about both Muhammed and Jesus is supposed to mollify Christians into thinking that the stoning/lynching was OK. If so, I am not mollified. I am horrified, even if only Jesus were insulted.

Ain't Islam Great?
In the news: Death to Somali Muslims who shirk prayers!
I hear folks complain that the problem is fundamentalism in general, but in what other religion do fundamentalists insist on imposing their religious law on secular society with such harsh consequences? Answer: Only Islam.
What other religion riots over: cartoons and comedy and automobile accidents and similar stuff? Answer: Only Islam.
What other religion today has fundamentalists that go on suicide missions to kill unbelievers? Answer: Only Islam.
Is that Islamophobia? Or is it mere fact?
If I do not want cancer and therefore avoid cancer-causing behavior, is that cancerphobia? Or is it good sense?
