Open Letter to President Obama -- Updated

Dear President Obama,

According to news reports, you accused the Republicans of being partisan because they would not sign on to your agenda, like the health care legislation, the stimulus bill and the like.

If you weren't such a narcissist, you might be able to figure out that "be reasonable, do it my way" simply does not work. If you want Republicans to sign on to an agenda item, you must do two things. One, you must actually approach them, rather than trying to ram stuff through because you have a majority. Two, you must listen and accept their policy concerns as genuine and be willing to compromise to accommodate those concerns.

Frankly, there is no hope of bipartisanship from you, because you are the most partisan president in my lifetime. Your narcissism prevents you from recognizing that there might be flaws in your policies. And there are. In fact your basic assumptions about right and wrong and truth and falsehood are seriously flawed.

You told many whoppers at the state of delusion address, but your narcissism makes you believe in the truth of the false statement even as you make them, like your "ban on lobbyists." Are you really unable to recognize your own flaws?

Your narcissism will continue to get the way of your governance. The trouble with narcissists such as yourself is that they are completely unable to recognize their own narcissism because they are unable to acknowledge any flaws in themselves.

As a result you are hopeless. And your administration is doomed to failure. It is just as well. Your policies are bad for American anyway, so maybe your narcissism works out for the best.

Update: Dr. Samuel Valknin, an expert in narcissism, suggests that Mr. Obama appears to suffer from Narcissistic Personality Disorder, that is, he is pathologically narcissistic.
