I routinely advise clients of the dangers of so-called living wills that the hospitals seem to push. Under a living will, if you are in a terminally unconscious as determined by a doctor, you give the hospital permission to pull the plug. No requirement to get the consent of your next of kin. Just the doctor makes that decision.
Now we have a report in the U.K. Telegraph that the U.K. National Health Service hospitals are using similar authority to hurry along those with terminal illnesses.
