Hamas Mistakes Bribery for Blackmail

According to Al Jazeera, the European Union has suspended $600 million in aid to the Palestinian Authority. Hamas calls the suspension "blackmail." See Al Jazeera story here.

No. Stopping the payment of a gift is not blackmail. Paying the gift in the first place was bribery.

And if the bribed won't stay bribed, why keep paying the bribe?

UPDATE: Maybe the bribery (or blackmail, if you are Hamas) is working. Will Hamas actually recognize Israel? If they do, will they get their "aid" (i,e,. bribes) from the EU again?

Here is more on the Palestinian Authority cash problems from the Christian Science Monitor.
