Fair and Balanced

The white House selected Tony Snow, late of fox News, as the White House spokesperson. The lefty Tony Snow smearers complain about Fox News and its "Fair and Balanced" motto.

I've got news for the lefties. Fox News is fair and balanced in its presentations, not because the reporters are a mix of left and right. They are not. The right clearly predominates. In MSM, the left clearly predominates.

No. Fox is fair and balanced because it has a policy of presenting interviews on issues with persons from both the left and the right. Someone from the left is always invited to present the case from the left.

As for the MSM, it is rare that a case is presented from the right. Unlike Fox, the MSM feels no obligation to try to present both sides of an issue. If Jesse jackson or Howard Dean or Nancy Pelosi or ... [on and on] speaks, it is taken as unarguable gospel. Why should anyone dispute the left-leaning gospel after all?

(To be sure there are right leaning guests on the occaisional interview show, Meet the Press, or Face the Nation, but not on the regular news presentaztions.)

Fox recognizes, acknowledges, and presents both points of view. That is why its commentary is fair and balanced even if Fox itself is editorially from the right. Just like its motto says.

Fox discloses its editorial bias. MSM denies its own bias.
